NEW CONSTANTS VINYL AVAILABLE FOR PRESALE! | posted Jul 26, 2010

The highly anticipated new album from the "shoegazers turned indie metal pioneers" Constants is now available for presale, exclusively in the RADAR WEBSTORE.

This is very special record, the first ever produced by Justin K. Broadrick (Jesu, Godflesh), and featuring guest appearances by Andrew Neufeld (Comeback Kid, Sights & Sounds) and Mike Hill (Tombs). "If Tomorrow The War" may very well be their tightest, most focused, most melodic, and most ferocious album to date.

The LP is being released in the US by Science of Silence Records with exclusive, deluxe hand-printed and hand-numbered packaging by Interrobang Letterpress and featuring alternate album art by M. Repasch Nieves. This is an extremely limited edition (only 125 of each color), so check out the RADAR WEBSTORE to order yours right now. Preorders include a free MP3 download of the album, which will be delivered on August 13th. Vinyl will ship on or after September 7th.

INAEONA SUNSHINE 7" NOW AVAILABLE! | posted May 01, 2010
The new 7" from InAeona is now available from the Radar Recordings online store! It comes on clear and white vinyl, with hand screened jackets by artist Carolyn Hulbert.

The corps members of InAeona—vocalist / guitarist Bridge, bassist Dave, and drummer James—have been an active part of the Radar family since its inception in 2002. All three are former members of Radar band Baby Boy H, Dave played bass on the first Junius EP, and Bridge sang some vocals on Junius’ recently-released The Martyrdom of a Catastrophist. Additionally, James worked with Will Benoit of Constants on mixing their most recent record, The Foundation, The Machine, The Acension, and also recorded a track for Junius for their upcoming split with Tuscon, Arizona’s Juarez.

Also, check out their new Myspace page, featuring art by Junius guitarist Mike Repasch-Nieves.

That's right, Radar and Constants' own Will Benoit. Check out the page and help the dude out!

MIKE'S '29 SONGS THAT MADE MY 2009' | posted Jan 15, 2010
Ok, so we're halfway into January, but I figured I'd chime in with my own "best of 2009" list. Here are 29 songs that got a lot of plays on my ipod, on the road, and at home. Some are from bands we've had the pleasure of playing or touring with, some are from friends, some are heavy, some are poppy, some are goofy, but somehow or another, they contributed to the soundtrack of my year. Feel free to heckle me on facebook if you've got some opinions on this.

AIR PEOPLE - Amsterdam (from The Golden City)
AMUSEMENT PARKS ON FIRE - In Our Eyes (from Young Fight)
BAD RABBITS - Advantage Me (from Stick Up Kids)
BURIAL & FOUR TET - Moth (from Wolf Cub & Moth)

THE LONELY ISLAND - I'm On A Boat (from Incredibad)
MASERATI - Monoliths / Thieves (from Passages)
MASTODON - Crack The Skye (from Crack The Skye)

MR. GNOME - Slow Side (from Heave Yer Skeleton)
A PACK OF WOLVES - The Death of My Old Self (from Betrayer)

ZOOT WOMAN - Lonely By Your Side (from Things Are What They Used To Be)

Stuff I missed the boat on (i.e. came out in 2008, but I didn't get into til 2009):
HERRA TERRA - You Were The Accelerator (from Organs For The Afterlife)
SEPTEMBER MALEVOLENCE - The Descent (from After This Darkness, There's A Next)

PERPETUAL MOTION | posted Oct 27, 2009
Yep, we're terrible about keeping this blog updated, but it's just because all our bands are busy as all get-out. New albums from CONSTANTS and JUNIUS, and CASPIAN are all out now on sister labels The Mylene Sheath (US) and Make My Day Records (Europe). All three bands have been touring practically nonstop lately, so check the myspace pages for updates.

RADAR @ SXSW | posted Mar 17, 2009
Hello... I know we've been terrible about keeping this updated (too damn busy!)... But just want to give a quick reminder about our 3rd annual "Good-bye South-by" fest on Sunday the 22nd at Red 7 (611 E 7th St). The lineup is as follows:

Calm Blue Sea
Battlefields
Irepress
Pack of Wolves
Adai
Junius
Caspian
Constants
Tombs
Wolves In The Throne Room
Pelican

You don't need a bracelet. It's simply $10. Small price to pay for an unstoppable lineup like that. ADAI, CONSTANTS, JUNIUS, and CASPIAN are all making other appearances at SXSW. Check out their myspace pages for details. See you there!

RADAR NOW 'CARRIES' ADAI | posted Sep 09, 2008
The debut EP from the Denver-based post-metal duo ADAI (who are louder and heavier than any two-piece has any right to be), is now available from Radar. The record was engineered and produced by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Genghis Tron, Torche) at Godcity with artwork by Seldon Hunt (Neurosis, Isis, Jesu).

The first 50 CDs ordered will include an exclusive silk-screened hand-numbered poster featuring art by Seldon Hunt, available nowhere else!

At only $5.99 (including free instant MP3 download), it's kind of a steal.

SXSW and instant gratification... | posted Mar 20, 2008
Thanks to everyone who helped make our SXSW show/party a total success. The lineup was arguably the best at the entire festival, and it obviously didn't go unrecognized. Thank you.

Radar Recordings is also pleased to introduce "Instant Gratification" record buying through the Radar online store, kicking off with a brand new split 7 inch from post rock elite CASPIAN and CONSTANTS. From now on, any CD or vinyl purchased from the Radar store will include a free mp3 copy, downloadable immediately upon purchase. We've just begun a pre-sale of the new limited edition CONSTANTS / CASPIAN 7" colored vinyl split EP. If you pre-order the album you will be able to download mp3s of the split now, and will be first to receive the record when it ships on April 8th.

NEW CANCER CONSPIRACY ALBUM IN STORES TODAY | posted Jan 29, 2008
"Omega," the long awaited new album from The Cancer Conspiracy is available worldwide as of today. It can be purchased on CD and vinyl directly from Radar, digitally through iTunes, in stores on CD now, and in stores on vinyl as of February 12th. We're pretty sure it was worth the wait. Hope you agree.

THE YEAR TO COME... | posted Jan 17, 2008
First off, thanks to everyone who helped make our fifth annual Last Night On Earth show a success. It was a sold-out night of great music from start to finish. Brooklyn's Goes Cube started things off and ripped it up, Caspian were stellar as always, Constants debuted some sick new songs with new drummer Rob Motes, and finally there was the long awaited return of Seneca, who in spite of a two year hiatus, put on one of their best shows to date. For those of you who missed out, there is some footage on YouTube, which pales in comparison to the actual event, but might give at least an idea of what was missed...

Anyway, we've got some awesome records and events coming up in the months to come. The Cancer Conspiracy's new album, "Omega," will be out nationwide on the 29th. Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage named "Omega" his #1 album of 2007. His whole list can be viewed here. Seeing as it's not even officially released yet, I'm sure it'll be making at least a few "best of 2008" lists in the year ahead. We've also got albums from Adai, Goddess of My Religion, and some other cool stuff we will be announcing soon enough.

But, aside from all that, can we take a quick second to mention how ridiculous our SXSW party is going to be this year? We're presenting a full day of music at Red 7 with Giant Steps Productions on March 16th. A complete lineup will be announced soon, but rest assured it's going to be worth marking on the calendar. Ok, that's all for now...

CANCER CONSPIRACY VINYL HAS FINALLY ARRIVED... | posted Dec 14, 2007
...and the good folks at Gilead Media will be shipping them starting next week.

Just to tease you further, here is what the white one looks like and here's what the black one looks like. Seriously though, thanks you for you're patience....it's worth it.

SXSW WE ARE COMING FOR YOU! | posted Dec 14, 2007
It's probably a little early for everyone to be thinking about the springtime. But we are very excited to announce the most grand Radar tour de force yet.

This March CASPIAN, JUNIUS and CONSTANTS will be tearing this nation in half on their way down to Austin's Annual music festival South By Southwest. There are some very cool things in the works for this tour, and for our shows down there, so be prepared. You ever put a Mentos in your Diet Pepsi? Like that, except on a much larger scale.

End of news
